A bathroom remodel in your home can be a daunting adventure. People coming in and out, delays, high costs. All of these are issues you could face if you don’t ask the right questions up front. Here are 10 questions that Re-Bath recommends you ask before hiring a bathroom remodel contractor.

1 - How long have you been in business?

Nothing against industry newcomers, but the longer a bathroom remodeling company has been around, the more likely they are to know what they’re doing. This means having expert staff members, established procedures, and an online presence so that a quick search will provide plenty of information about the history of the company. Re-Bath was founded in 1978 and has been working in Omaha for about 13 years.

2 - May I see some examples of your work?

A reputable company will take pride in their work, and they will likely have pictures of bathrooms they have done. At Re-Bath Omaha, we love to make before and after pictures and videos and post them to our social media to share with everyone!

3 - Do you have references?

If a contractor is trustworthy, they will have a list of reference contacts on hand so that you can speak directly with their former clients. Each Re-Bath design consultant can offer a list like this to every appointment; however, we have found that getting a hold of someone in this day in age is virtually impossible. Because of this, we often tout our numerous Google reviews, our memberships and awards, and we have our prospective clients watch one of numerous video testimonials! These are also available on our Facebook and YouTube pages for anyone at any time.

4 - How much will it cost?

While many companies might give a “range” for the expected cost of your remodel, honest companies will give you an exact quote. The means that the rate is locked so you’re guaranteed to stay within your budget. But, before having any companies out to bid the project, it’s always good to research averages in your area to make sure you’re not off the mark and just insulting to the professionals that come out to your home. To make it even more affordable, Re-Bath offers financing to qualified customers.

5 - What types of warranties do you offer?

Warranties help to ensure your satisfaction and long-term maintenance of your bathroom. Reputable remodeling companies will offer warranties on both the products they offer as well as the services they offer. In Nebraska, a licensed contractor is required to stand by their work for up to year after the project is completed. Re-Bath stands behind their work, and many of our products carry warranties.

6 - Are you licensed?

Reputable contractors of all types will carry a state or local license to ensure that they have done due diligence to maintain quality-of-work standards.

7 – Are you insured?

Making sure that your contractor’s company workers are insured is VITAL. If they do not carry their own insurance and one of their workers is hurt working in your home, YOU ARE ON THE HOOK TO PAY FOR IT!

8 – Are you bonded?

Bonded companies will carry liability protection to protect you from the unforeseen.

9 - What does the remodel process look like?

Any remodel will have an impact on your whole home, so don’t be afraid to get too specific when asking about how workers operate. Good questions to ask and get answers in writing: What time will you start and end each day? Will someone be here every day? Will you clean up all garbage and debris? How will you protect other parts of my home from damage?

10 - Do you use subcontractors or only in-house employees?

Remodeling companies that use subcontractors tend to have issues, primarily because they must work around each other’s schedules. That usually leads to lots of unnecessary down time. In-house employees, on the other hand, all work on the same schedule, meaning they can carry out the entire remodel in as little as a week. Also, knowing that everyone in the project shares the same standards and goals makes a huge difference in a customer’s experience.

Remodeling your bathroom is something to put a lot of thought and care into. Most of us can only afford to do it once in our lifetime, so it’s important to trust the right remodeler. Re-Bath has over 40 years in the business and checks all of the above boxes and more! They provide

to make sure that honest communication is the foundation of their relationship with their customers. They back that foundation with quality products, professional workmanship and industry-leading warranties. And while they readily admit to not always being the cheapest option, they are definitely the least expensive in the long run!
