Most people spend the first and last minutes of their days in the bathroom. That means the ambiance is everything — after all, there's nothing worse than an old, outdated space starting your day off on the wrong foot. If you're in the market to make some decor changes, take note of the trends that are in and (even more important) the ones that are out.

Move over, shower curtain: This sleek design is much more chic. It still serves the same purpose and keeps water from spilling onto the floor, but also creates a major decor statement in an otherwise simple space.

IN: Playful, Colorful Tile

Even though white subway tile will always be considered classic, these vintage blue tiles add a pop of color in a place where it's unexpected and delightful. Just make sure you keep the rest of the space relatively neutral to let your tile take center stage.

If you're looking for a low-lift way to give your bathroom a trendy makeover, look no further than this mirror. The round shape (which bloggers are obsessed with) instantly creates a statement, especially when it's paired with a rectangular vanity and sink.

If you've ever used an outdoor shower, you know it's a relaxing experience to wash in a room without a ceiling. Similarly, this freeing trend devotes the entire room to your shampooing session. Just make sure you cover every surface with tile and you wipe down puddles afterwards.

6

IN: Shower Plants

Not only do hanging plants add some serious color to neutral bathrooms, but if you buy the right kind, they'll purify your air, too. Plants are proven to help you relax, too. So if you treat your bathroom like a sanctuary, this is a must-have.

Adding wooden or industrial touches to your bathroom will give it that one-of-a-kind touch that's huge right now. Plus, it'll create a timeless vibe to your bathroom that will stay on-trend forever.

We get it: White is clean and classic — but it's also the tiniest bit boring. The good news? If you already have a neutral space and don't want to give it a major facelift, it's easy enough to add one of the above ideas to give your room a trendy touch.

Even though this down-to-Earth style has been all the rage for a few years now, it's safe to say it's time as the Queen bee of decor time has come to an end. We blame it on Fixer Upper fatigue (sorry!).
